Aerodynamic.

February 26, 2005 at 3:46 pm,

My roommate, for all his stoner tendencies — that is, he tends to get stoned — does occasionally offer the random bit of knowledge or wordly insight. At the beginning of the semester, I lamely stated, “Everything’s going pretty good schoolwise, I guess the only thing is that I need to get a girlfriend this semester.”

To which he replied, “Dude, what I always figured about that kind of thing is, if I just don’t worry about it, it’ll happen.”

And he was right. Which is kind of amazing in its own right — this is the same guy who spends a good part of his day on Google to find out the side effects of whatever drugs he’s decided to take for the week. But it did happen, “it” being that I’ve found someone new in a person that I’ve known for a shade of forever, and we’re a couple, and well, it’s great.

Guessing lottery numbers would’ve made more sense than the past week and a half, but I wouldn’t feel as lucky.

I’m not sure if she wants me to put her name on here, as she barely let me put up the picture of us below. She’s a little shy in that way. But also she makes me laugh, and not worry, and one time she gave me a muffin.

It’s weird starting a relationship with someone that I’ve known for so long. In some ways, we have a jump start in the getting-to-know-ya department, but also there’s this very different sense of discovery. Like you’ve been staring at a Magic Eye picture for a couple hours, and then you realize you have X-ray vision. It’s fun!

I like her lots, and sometimes I want to say more, but of course it’s too soon and of course I’m not really sure what love is. But I’m pretty sure of us, so far. Things look good.

Note: Oh, and her name is Trista.
