In kindergarten, every child should be told that they will accomplish one great thing in life, one grand spectacular thing, and all their life they will strive and toil and try to make wonderful things happen, and then they will ponder and get frustrated. But then one day the epiphany will hit them. And then they will say, “Oh, ha-ha! The great thing I will accomplish is to realize that I am a good person doing good things and parts of the world are better because of me!” Then they will hug themselves and die happy.

And, every once in a while there will be a person who never realizes this and she will die frightfully malcontent, leaving behind an impossibly beautiful legacy. And when children are in kindergarten, the second thing they will be given is a list of great people to match, and her name will be on it.
