Long since overdue.

A conversation at work.

“So Charlie… do you have a girlfriend?”
“Nope.”
“Aww, did you just break up recently?”
“Nope.”
“Oh, so do you like someone?”
“…nope.”

It never really occured to me that the social range in which I currently find myself was odd in any way. Or rather, I didn’t really think much of the sheer romantic neutrality that very much defines my current lifestyle.

Take the entire bundle of people I know, and let’s say they’re all movies in a video store. Pretty much everyone I know would be filed under Romance at the moment: success stories, tragedies, gripping dramas and insecure comedies; regardless, they find themselves leading a love story of some kind. And me, you’ll find me somewhere in the slightly outdated foreign films section– the kinda interesting looking one that gets put back on the shelf when the back cover blurb doesn’t sell ya.

Anyway, in real news, I got accepted into CSU Long Beach as a Film major, so I’ll almost surely be attending as a junior in the fall. That gives me four months to say goodbye to San Diego, something it feels like I’ve been practicing for the past two years. And I think I’ve finally figured out the best parting words to this town of mine:

Later, jerkass!
